Becoming Catholic Session #28: The 2nd Scrutiny with Fr. Carvajal

The “Scrutinies” serve two purposes: to reveal what is weak, sick and sinful in the hearts of the elect so that it can be healed; and what is honorable, strong and holy, so that it can be strengthened. Their purpose then is mainly spiritual. They set forth to purify minds and hearts, to fortify against temptations, to convert intentions, and to awaken the will. In the Gospel of the Blind Man, our session will center on Christ the Redeemer as Light.

Father Carvajal will introduce the prayer practice of “Lectio Divina”, a traditional way of praying the Scriptures so that the Word of God may penetrate our hearts and help us grow in a more intimate relationship with the Lord. It is a very natural way of prayer and was developed and practiced by the early monks. Our session will be held in Father Lynch Hall at 6:30 pm. Come…
